JAM 2019

Alexus Cazares

This past weekend, undergraduates from our lab traveled to Albuquerque to attend the 52nd Joint Annual Meeting of the AZ/NM American Fisheries Society and the AZ/NM Chapters of The Wildlife Society. Two of our seniors, Alexus Cazares and John Bosak, gave oral presentations on the research that they have been doing at our Stone Canyon study site. Alexus's talk focused on the effects of urbanization on Gila Monsters (Heloderma suspectum), while John's talk focused on the effects of moon illumination on nightly snake abundance. We also had two students, Samantha Johnson and Brieanna Whitehair, present a poster on the urban ecology of Desert Spiny Lizards (Sceloporus magister). This was a nice opportunity for our students to give their very first talk at a conference and to meet other professionals in the field!
